What to Expect on your Sydney Helicopter Ride

Your Sydney helicopter ride begins with your arrival at our passenger lounge at the Sydney Airport's Helicopter Terminal. You'll have the opportunity to meet your Pilot and discuss your flight path before walking onto the tarmac for a photo opportunity in front of your helicopter.

Your Pilot will then provide a short safety briefing, and you'll be strapped in for take off on your unforgettable experience over Sydney. As your helicopter is starting up, you'll hear the radio chatter from Sydney's Air Traffic Control in your Bose noise-cancelling headsets as they manage the arrival of international passenger jets across Sydney's busy runways.

Once the blades are spinning and your helicopter is ready for take off, your Pilot will contact Air Traffic Control to request taxi and take off clearance for your scenic flight around Sydney Harbour. You'll be listening for the magic words "Cleared Harbour Bridge 5 Outbound" and before you know it, your helicopter will be lifting off towards Sydney CBD.

From the moment you're airborne, the city skyline and Sydney's spectacular harbour will come into view. You'll fly past Sydney CBD with views of Martin Place and the bustling business district, before flying over the historic Port of Botany Bay including the UNESCO-listed Hyde Park Barracks, and navy warships at Sydney's naval base, HMAS Kuttabul. Interesting fact: The naval base is named after the steam ferry HMAS Kuttabul that was sunk during a Japanese midget submarine attack on Sydney Harbour in 1942.

Your helicopter will fly an exciting orbit overhead Sydney Harbour at 1,000ft (330m) over water and this will be your chance to capture photos of some of Sydney's most spectacular landmarks. Be ready to capture Taronga Zoo, Kirribilli House (The Prime Minister's Residence), Sydney Harbour Bridge, Circular Quay, and of course Sydney Opera House. For those with excellent eyesight, see if you can spot the people walking up Sydney Harbour Bridge on the BridgeClimb! Otherwise, expect distant views of the Blue Mountains on exceptionally clear days!

Next, you'll head east over the beautiful Rose Bay and Watsons Bay on your way to Sydney Heads. You'll notice the ferries taking passengers on their daily commutes to and from Manly Cove, before leaving the vicinity of Sydney Harbour and arriving at the Pacific Ocean for your epic flight down Sydney's eastern coastline.

Your helicopter will descend to 500ft (150m) over water and hug the coastline for your first views of Ben Buckler Point and the world famous Bondi Beach. Bondi Beach will be pumping with beachgoers and surfers as you fly past Bondi Pavilion, the Promenade and the iconic Bondi Icebergs swimming club and rockpool. See if you can spot people walking along the Bondi to Bronte coastal walking track - An epic 2.3km walk past Tamarama Beach and Mackenzie's Bay following the ocean and cliffs.

Your epic Sydney eastern coastline helicopter tour continues over Coogee Beach, Bronte Beach and Maroubra Beach and includes epic views of ragged cliffs, smooth golf courses and amazing mansions dotted along the coast with ocean views.

As your helicopter turns inland, you'll see Sydney Airport come back into view with the passengers jets lining up overhead to come in to land.
